In North Vancouver we are so lucky to have such beautiful outdoors.  We are also so lucky that we have a community that supports playing outside and so many outdoor activities!  I love living in North Vancouver because I can hike to the peak of Vancouver in the morning, swim in the ocean on the same day!!

There are people, activities and groups to support everyone’s love of the outdoors! Whether you are camping, hiking, running, or just enjoying nature, we all can use a little bit of extra equipment and encouragement sometimes. Having the right tools to accomplish the things you want is important.  Luckily, we are also supported by our awesome community to provide those tools.
(At Sole Girls, our focus is to give girls the tools they need to live healthy lives and help their inner awesome shine!)

MEC (Mountain Equipment Co-op), is an awesome organization that gives us the tools to succeed.  Located at Main and Brooksbank Avenue across from Park and Tilford, MEC is a huge supporter of playing outside, especially RUNNING!!  They are so supportive of running that they hold a run club every Wednesday night at 6pm from the entrance of the store!  The leaders are awesome and enthusiastic and they have 2 groups so no one is left behind!  They even have regular monthly Local Fun Runs/ Trail runs that only cost $15!! These are generally geared toward adults, but everyone is welcome!

MEC is sponsoring Sole Girls this Summer and Fall, and we couldn’t be more excited!  We will be running our summer camp and our 8 week Fall program out of their store in North Vancouver!!

Our first event at MEC is the “So-You 2 day Summer Empowerment CAMP” on August 26th and 27th!  Two FULL days of new friends, anti-bullying, confidence building, physical activity, games, healthy snacks, mentors, stretching and sooooo much more!
